HOW TO COOK REAL JAMAICAN RICE & PEAS

Hey Guys! This is a step by step how to video on preparing Real Jamaican Rice & Peas.

Aunty Nena’s Rice & Pease Recipe
• 1.5 lbs of rice
• 1 14 oz bag of red kidney beans
• 1 400ml can of Coconut Milk
• 4-5 cloves of garlic
• 1 bunch of green onion (chopped)
• 1.5 tbs of chopped thyme
• 1 scotch bonnet pepper
• 1/4 piece of bell pepper
• 1 tsp of brown sugar
• 1 tbs of salt
• 1/2 stick of butter
Instructions
1. Wash your peas and put them to cook with the cloves of garlic.
2. After the peas are cooked. Add the coconut milk, thyme, green onions, bell pepper, hot pepper and butter.
3. Then add the salt and sugar
4. Mix everything in and allow for the pot to come to a boil.
5. Wash your rice and once the pot has come to a boil, add the rice and stir.
6. Make sure while stirring you are evenly distributing the peas throughout the rice.
7. Allow for the rice and peas to come to boil. Then turn to low heat and allow it to steam.
8. The rice and peas should be completely cooked after 25-30 mins.
9. Make sure your rice is nice and fluffy then SERVE & ENJOY!
